YouTube Adds Paramount Films To Rental Library [Updates]

Google has added some Paramount films to its collection on YouTube and Google Play . Nearly 500 new titles are joining the existing catalog, which already featured thousands of titles from Disney, Sony, Warner Bros. and a number of smaller studios. Only 20 th Century Fox has to yet to succumb to Google's charms. The lack of a single major studio isn't an insurmountable handicap, and the company has never explicitly said that a deal is out of the question. The lack of the Fox's content is the only thing keeping Google from being on par with the iTunes store in the rental market. As with all existing content, the price for a rental varies between $2.99 and $3.99. Rentals are available for 30 days, but once you begin the movie you must finish it with 24 or 48 hours, depending on the movie you rent. Upgrading from standard definition to 720p will cost you another dollar. Google continues to leave those who live outside North American out of the loop, as these new titles – like all before them – are only going to be available in the United States and Canada. Most of the films acquired under the agreement are already available, but some additional content will be rolled out over the coming months. Source: Mashable
