INFOGRAPHIC : Social Media – The New News Source

When was the last time you read an actual printed newspaper?  Yeah I can't remember either.  If I had to take a wild stab in the dark, I would estimate at least two years ago, and that was probably just to admire the topless model and do the crossword.  When was the last time you listened to a news report on the radio?  A radio .  What's that?  It's a talking box….oh never mind. The fact is that an ever increasing number of people are abandoning "traditional journalism" in favour of getting their news from online social media.  The two big bad boys in this neighbourhood are of course Facebook and Twitter, who have been responsible for breaking some of the biggest news stories of the past few years.  Whether it was the Arab Spring, the tsunami in Japan, Osama Bin Laden's death or Whitney Houston's untimely demise, it was Facebook and Twitter who made sure that people heard about it first.  Not some news report on TV.   TV .  It's another talking box, but this time with colour moving pictures. Yeah, like a computer monitor. Sigh. Let us know what you think of the infographic.  Does most of your news come from social media?  Or are you still an old fuddy-duddy who still likes his TV and radio?  Me, I'm a fuddy-duddy and proud of it!
