| It seems like everyone wants in the cloud storage game these days – and now you can add Sony to the list of contenders. The company has just announced a new service called PlayMemories Online. It will offer five gigabytes of space for free and focus on photos. Sony apparently wants the service to capitalize on the plethora of camera-equipped devices it sells. Users will be able to upload photos to PlayMemories with Sony cameras, phones, tablets and even handheld PlayStation game consoles. Any photos synced using the service would automatically become available on all Sony devices the user owns – including HDTVs and even digital frames. Even the PlayStation 3 will be in on the action. Sony will be introducing a custom photo editing application to the console. Users will be able to edit photos stored on PlayMemories via their console, then save them back to the cloud. Similar editing apps will be available on the PS Vita and PSP. Sony has set the release date for May 25 th and announced six launch markets – the United States, Japan, Canada, Germany, France and the UK. The service will be available on Windows and Mac computers via software application and available on Android via an app that will be made available for download on Google Play.
