| The popular pinboard, networking, and product sharing site, Pinterest announced on Tuesday that Vimeo.com videos can now be pinned and thus embedded to user boards in the same way video YouTube videos were integrated back in August of 2011. The video sharing site, Vimeo is similar to YouTube but its content tends include more artistic and professionally shot productions and how-to videos. Pinterest users can post Vimeo videos by the clicking the same 'Pin It' bookmarklet used for other Pinterest posts. The videos must be embedded on the Vimeo.com page in order to be integrated with Pinterest. You can browse and watch video content on individual Pinterest boards, or on the Pinterest Video Feed , which features a wide range of productions–from Ted Talks for Kids , CHOW's How to Make Ice Cream Using Freezer Bags , to a Pinterest recommended video titled Caine's Arcade about a 9 year-old boy in Los Angeles who constructs a cardboard arcade. All videos can be viewed within the Pinterest site and shared to other networks. Pinterest's integration with Vimeo is a win-win for both sites, but more so for Vimeo. Social media critics and watchers contend that Pinterest is driving more traffic to other sites than Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and Google Plus combined. This new Vimeo integration will have special appeal to web users who like sharing fine art and more artistically designed content, which mirrors Pinterest's visually inclined user base. In just under a year, the value of Pinterest is reported to already be $1 billion. Source: TechCrunch |
