| Portable apps are really handy. You can carry them around on a USB drive and use them on any computer without installing any software. You can then essentially bring a customised copy of GIMP or Open Office, or even Google Chrome (with your bookmarks) wherever you go. We've compiled the best portable apps and listed them on our Best Portable Apps page. Recently, a few new apps were added. A new image editor was included: IrfanView Portabl e – a fast and powerful image viewer that can also apply effects. Baretail , a tool for system admins, used for viewing logfiles, like tail on Linux; was added to the System Tools section. Under Productivity , we added: DropboxPortableAHK – lets you take Dropbox on a stick and use it without admin rights. Calibre – a tool for managing your ebook collection and converting book formats. Notepad++ – a powerful, customizable programmer's text editor. Foxit Reader Portable – a PDF document reader. Lastly, we included a new comprehensive suite of portable apps by LiberKey .
