Google+ Adds The Ability To Call Any Number From Hangouts [Updates]

Hangouts, the best feature of Google Plus, just got better with Google adding the ability to use it to call almost any phone number. Getting together with friends in Hangouts is a great way to communicate, and now it's vastly improved. With this change you will be able to call both land lines and cell phones, so anyone you need to talk to will be accessible. Although, it's surprising that this feature was not added from the beginning as Google already has the Google Voice platform. Calls from Google Hangouts are powered by Google Voice technology. All calls made to the US and Canada are free, and you can check Google's international rate page to find out how much it will cost you to "hangout" with people from a particular country via voice call. Using Hangout for calls is incredibly easy. You simply start a Hangout as you normally would. Then, you click the "+Invite" button to add the phone you want to call. In the invite screen, you click "phone" and enter the phone number. The last step is to click "add" and your call will be placed. Also, make sure to enable Hangouts with new features on the bottom of the Hangout screen. The feature is limited to outbound calls, so you will not be able to give a Hangout phone number to friends and have them get hold of you. It is great to see Google taking Hangouts to another level, though. Hangouts is the main feature that sets Google Plus apart from other social networks and it's one they will have to keep in the forefront of if they want their social network to get noticed.
